Liptál byl během druhé světové války jednou z obcí podporující protifašistický odboj. Především v roce 1944 se zde začala rozvíjet mohutná partyzánská činnost. Srub pod kopcem Vartovna byl místem úkrytu partyzánů. Dnes je volně přístupný.
